As a warning to keep people away, every time he slaughtered a hog he would place its severed head on a spike and lined the borders of his land with the dreadful totems. As time passed, he grew more and more demented in his isolation and cast off all restraints of society. The local villagers shun him as well, and began to call him The Pigman.
